NRF Can't Miss Sessions

Paul Milner

NRF's Big Show is just around the corner. NRF is a great opportunity to speak with and learn from leaders at the biggest event in the industry. With a plethora of exciting programming, it can be difficult to decide which sessions to attend.

NRF-SM-Postcards-1

In preparation, here are our recommendations for some of the sessions we can't wait to attend:

Immersive... Reimagined... Revolutionary: The future of shopping beckons

When/where: Sunday, January 12 • 10:30am - 11:00am • Kustomer Stage, Hall E, Level 1

Description: It’s time to throw out the old playbooks and write new ones. Executives from SHOWFIELDS and AREA15 are doing just that. Experimenting with models that blend physical and digital retail in an effort to revitalise bricks-and-mortar retail, these two models drive home the theory that traditional retail is not dead; it’s evolving – and they’re doing it in very different ways.

Our take: Refreshing the in-store experience is essential to maintaining customer loyalty. Retailers must continuously strive to maintain a unified experience across digital and physical initiatives. Led by Retail Dive’s Daphne Howland, this session will be a great opportunity to explore some unique ways brands are bringing a fresh look to retail.

Why retail jobs can be good jobs: A conversation between Walmart U.S. CEO John Furner and author MIT professor Zeynep Ton

When/where: Sunday, January 12 • 9:15am - 9:45am • SAP QualtricsXM Theatre, Level 1

Description: Hear noted author and MIT professor Zeynep Ton and Walmart U.S. CEO John Furner explore the current retail landscape when it comes to digital capabilities and employee opportunity. Zeynep and John will discuss how work is changing and what retailers like Walmart are doing to be great employers.

Our take: Great employees make great stores. It’s important for retailers to invest in employees and make their experience more efficient and rewarding. We strive to do this every day by freeing up employees’ time with ESLs – without having to manually change labels during their shift, they can spend more time helping customers and having a true impact on the store. Attendees of this session will hear great insights about valuing employees.

Ecosystem players: Women are advancing sustainable development

When/where: Monday, January 13 • 12:30pm - 1:00pm • The FQ Lounge, Level 1, back of 1100 aisle

Description: Shopping sustainably is more than just a trend nowadays— it’s becoming a moral imperative. In this discussion, industry leaders will discuss how women are demanding eco-friendly products and why brands that respond are smart.

Our take: As consumers increasingly focus on sustainable issues, brands must do the same to reduce their ecological footprint. Our ESLs help create a greener store by eliminating wasteful paper pricing labels and enabling stores to decrease prices of perishable items as they approach expiration. During this session, attendees will hear from leading women in the retail industry about the importance of creating a sustainable retail experience.
